Registry Information and Applications

The Azawakh Club is dedicated to upholding the integrity of its Registry. Regular and/or Institutional Members of AZCA in good standing have the right to have their Azawakh entered into the Club database/Stud Book.  Once an Azawakh has been entered into our Registry and assigned a number, a combined Registration/Four Generation Ancestry Certificate can be issued. Our rules and guidelines are simple, our applications easy to complete, and our processing of registration applications timely.

Registering an Individual Azawakh

To register an individual Azawakh, the owner of the Azawakh should complete an AZCA Individual Registration Application. The application requires basic information such as the full name of the Azawakh, AZCA registration number, date of birth, color and markings, the registered names and numbers of the sire and dam as well as information regarding the breeder and any co-owner. The application must be signed by the owner and (if applicable) co-owner of the Azawakh.  The completed application should be mailed along with a check or money order in the amount of $15.00 USD to: Registrar, The Azawakh Club, 207 Walnut St., Toccoa, GA, 30577.  Failure to complete the application properly may result in processing delays.  Processing fees are nonrefundable and all fees are subject to change without notice.  Registration is not guaranteed.

Registering a Litter

A litter is eligible for registration if:

  • It is the result of a mating between an AZCA-registered Dam (female) and an AZCA-registered Sire (male).
  • It is whelped (born) in the USA, its possession or territories (Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Marianna Islands).

To register a litter, the litter owner should complete an AZCA Litter Registration Application. The application requires basic information such as the date of birth, number of females and males born, and the registered names and numbers of the dam and sire. The application must be signed by the owner and co-owner of the dam and by the owner and co-owner of the sire. The completed application should be mailed along with a check or money order in the amount of $10.00 USD for the litter application, plus $2.00 USD for each puppy, to: Registrar, The Azawakh Club, 207 Walnut St., Toccoa, GA, 30577.  Failure to complete the application properly may result in processing delays.  Upon approval of the Litter Registration Application, AZCA will mail the litter owner individual registration application slips for each puppy in the litter. Processing fees are nonrefundable and all fees are subject to change without notice.  Registration is not guaranteed.

AZCA reserves the right to register any and all Azawakh of interest to the Club.  For example in the case of desert bred Azawakh where the paternity of the Azawakh is typically unknown, the dog may still be registered with the caveat that the sire be recorded as ‘unknown’.  Another example would be where the dam was exposed to multiple males during her season.  If the paternity of the litter or individual puppies is not established to the satisfaction of AZCA, the sire of the puppies will be listed as ‘unknown’.  AZCA reserves the right to request DNA proof of paternity.  Registration is not guaranteed.

Registering Your Kennel Name

AZCA also offers breeders the Registered Kennel Name Program to protect the use of their kennel’s name in the naming of AZCA registered Azawakh.

Failure to follow correct procedures could lead to penalties, including the suspension of AZCA privileges. Any questions regarding registration of Azawakh can be answered by our Registrar by telephone [706-391-3816] or by email at registrar@theazawakhclub.com
